Faith Formation

The parish is the center of faith formation for Catholics. Every person in your pews, every Catholic in your parish community…child or adult…is on their own journey toward Christ and a life of discipleship.

Family Faith Formation -- Preschool through 8th grade

"Littlest Disciples" -- Formation for children ages 3-5 years old is "under construction." if you are interested in helping to create a faith formation for this age group, please reach out to Debby@holyinn.org.

 

F.U.T.U.R.E.s: (Families United Together Undertaking Religious Education) Our Family Based Religious Education Program is for families with children between grades 1 and 8. The group meets between October and May 9:15am - 10:15am between our Sunday Masses. The nursery is open during this time for infants and toddlers through kindergarten.

HIYA: (Holy Innocents Youth Ambassadors) Volunteer leaders, Glen and Petra Shafer are excited to offer a Sunday Night Youth Gathering for middle school and High School teens. HIYA meets on most Sunday evenings between October and May 6-8pm down in the parish hall. Dinner is served. There is prayer, games and an important lesson regarding living our faith as Catholic Christians each time HIYA meets. Children and Youth Sacramental Preparation

Infant Baptism: If you have a child under the age of 7 years old whom you would like to receive the Sacrament of Baptism. Please reach out to Debby Weidner at Debby@holyinn.org. Baptisms are celebrated approximately every other month and Baptism Preparation for parents is provided as needed.

First Reconciliation and First Communion: Preparation for Reconciliation and Communion begins in the fall with an orientation meeting. Families are asked to attend the F.U.T.U.R.E.s program on Sunday mornings, complete the textbook at home with their child and then meet with a Sacramental Ambassador who assess the child's readiness to celebrate the sacrament. First Reconciliation is celebrated at the Advent Parish Reconciliation Service in December and First Communion is celebrated the following spring in either late April or early May. First Reconciliation/First Communion Prep 2024-2025

Youth Confirmation Preparation: Preparation for youth in 7th grade or older begins in September and meets for 10 sessions through the fall and into January. There is a field trip to St. James Cathedral and an opening day retreat in September then the Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in February before Lent begins.

Teen Confirmation Prep 2023-2024

Rite of Christian Initiation

R.C.I.A. Adapted for Children: For children over the age of 7 and teens, who have not received the Sacrament of Baptism are guided through a process of preparation that prepares them to receive Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation at the Easter Vigil. The preparation is provided as needed and is individualized depending on the children or teen's needs. This preparation usually begins in September. R.C.I.A. for Adults: For adults who are interested in joining the Catholic Church who are either unbaptized or baptized in another denomination are invited into the Rite of Christian Initiation where individuals have the freedom to explore and have questions answered and to learn about the Catholic faith. Then, if they so choose are invited to be baptized or make a profession of faith at the Easter Vigil. For information about the RCIA please email Debby@holyinn.org.

Adult Education Opportunities

Women's Wednesday Morning Bible Study:  The women use the Threshold Bible Study Series as the foundation for their time together which also includes a good amount of exploration of faith and fellowship as well. This group meets up in the Narthex on Wednesday mornings 9:30-11:00am and childcare is provided. Please reach out to Debby@holyinn.org for more information


Catechetical Certification Program For parish staff, volunteers and adult learners, this program provides the foundation for knowing, living, and teaching our Catholic faith. This class starts Saturday October 12th 9am - 12 noon and meets monthly through May 2025.
